Tuesday 3 July is arrival day. You should plan to arrive in Athens between 12:00 and 15:00 local time. Students make the 100 km trip from the airport to Kiato by direct commuter rail service. You’ll have time for supper after check-in at the hotel. Conductors will gather in the dining area Wednesday morning after breakfast for a welcome session at 10:00 am. The first Embodied Conducting™ session follows the lunch break at 3:00 pm, and the first instructional rehearsal begins at 5:00 pm.

Prelude Academy conductors will be treated to a special cultural excursion on Saturday 7 July. The trip will include visits to Ancient Corinth and the famed Ancient Greek Theatre of Epidarius. Participants will are responsible for a small fee to cover the cost of transportation and admission to the historical sites.

Like the Advanced Conducting Academy, the Prelude Academy schedule is extremely full. Participants will be conducting for 25 minutes a day so you should arrive fully prepared to conduct your repertoire selections. Each conductor will have 15 minutes of instructional podium time in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening. Additional contact hours with the faculty include daily Embodied Conducting™ classes, a score study and transposition masterclass, Hindemith hand independence exercises and evening video review sessions.

Conductors will return to the Athens Airport by commuter rail. Those with early morning 13 July flights will depart for Athens at 22:20 after the final Thursday evening concert. Those with afternoon flights can spend Thursday night at the hotel and catch the 7:25 commuter rail train to the airport on Friday morning 13 July.
